Welcome to the PEDIGREE® Lie Detector app (the “App”), provided by Mars Australia Pty Ltd, trading as Mars Petcare Australia (“Mars,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing and using the App, whether you are using the App alone or in combination with the Lie Detector collar device (the “Clip”), you (“user” or “you”) agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions of Use (the “Terms”) and the use of your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which is available here. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the App or the Clip.
These Terms apply to your use of the App, including any features and services available with or without the Clip, and govern your use of both the App and the Clip if applicable. Please read these Terms carefully before using the App or Clip.

- Clip: The PEDIGREE® Lie Detector collar-mounted device that tracks your dog’s movement and activity levels. It works in conjunction with the App.
- Pilot Program: A limited-time beta testing period during which selected users can access and trial the App and Clip.
- Privacy Policy: The document outlining how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data. Accessible via the Privacy Policy within the App or here.
- Terms: These Terms of Use that govern your use of the App and Clip.

Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the App, whether you are using the App alone or in combination with the Clip, you acknowledge and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these Terms, you are prohibited from using the App or the Clip. We may modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the App or Clip after such modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
Pilot Program & Beta Release Disclaimer
- Limited Beta Release: The App and Clip are being provided as part of a limited Pilot Program and are still undergoing testing and refinement. By using this product, you acknowledge and agree that it is a live prototype, not a fully developed or market-ready product.
- No Guarantee of Continuation: This Pilot Program is limited to a specific group of users, and the continuation of the App or Clip after the Pilot Program is not guaranteed. The Pilot Program will last for two months, with the possibility of an extension at Mars' sole discretion.
- Use at Your Own Risk: The App and Clip have undergone partial testing only and may contain bugs, errors, or inconsistencies. Functionality, features, and performance may change over time. Participants acknowledge that the App and Clip are being provided on an "as is" basis and should not be relied upon for critical functions.
The Clip is not available for sale and should not be resold.
Eligibility
- Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to use the App or Clip. If you are under 18, use is allowed only with verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian, who must review and accept these Terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18 without this consent. If we become aware of such collection, we will delete the data as required by law.
- Dog Ownership: You must be the registered owner of the dog you are using the App or Clip for or have the legal authority to make decisions regarding the dog’s care. You agree to provide accurate information about your dog and ensure that the information is up to date.
General Information and Veterinary Advice Disclaimer
- Not a Substitute for Veterinary Care: The App is designed to provide general guidance for managing your dog’s diet and activity levels. The information provided within the App is based on general assumptions about your dog’s breed size, weight, and activity level, and should be used as a tool to help you make informed decisions.
- No Professional Veterinary or Nutritional Advice: Mars is not a veterinary service provider, and the App is not intended to replace professional veterinary care. The meal plans, activity suggestions, and other health-related information provided by the App are for general informational purposes only and are not a substitute for consultation with a licensed veterinarian or pet nutritionist.
- Consult with a Veterinarian: You should always consult with a veterinarian or other qualified professional for specific advice regarding your dog’s health, diet, or any concerns about their medical condition. The App does not have the capability to evaluate your dog’s specific medical needs, conditions, or any other health factors that a veterinarian could assess.
- Health and Medical Considerations: The App does not take into account any specific medical conditions, allergies, or health issues your dog may have and therefore cannot provide fully tailored feeding or exercise advice. The feeding guidelines and meal plans provided by the App assume a general, healthy dog without underlying health conditions.
- User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for ensuring that the dietary and activity recommendations provided by the App are appropriate for your dog’s specific needs. This information should be used alongside guidance from a veterinarian.
- Important: If your dog has any medical conditions, requires special dietary considerations, or if you are uncertain about the appropriate diet or activity plan, we strongly recommend that you seek the guidance of a licensed veterinarian.
App Features
Key features include:
- Personalised Meal Plans: Daily calorie goal based on user input.
- Feeding Schedule: Allows setting times and sends reminders.
- Feeding Logs: Recording when meals and treats are fed.
- Activity & Calorie Tracking: Requires Clip for full functionality.
Accuracy of Information
Users are responsible for providing accurate data about their dog, logging meals and treats, and ensuring activity is syncing.
6.1 Important Note on Feeding Accuracy
- The App calculates your dog’s daily calorie needs based on the information you provide. It assumes that you are feeding the recommended product(s) in the exact serving size indicated in your personalised meal plan. When you log a meal, the App records the corresponding recommended calorie amount as Calories 'Eaten'.
- If you feed a different product or portion size, the calorie intake data may become inaccurate. For reliable guidance, users must follow both the suggested product and portion recommendations precisely.
6.2 Important Note on Activity Tracking and Calorie Adjustments
- For users without the Clip, the App provides daily calorie recommendations based on an expected activity level that you specify during Onboarding. This amount should cover your dog's daily calorie needs.
- For users with the Clip, the App starts with a baseline calorie recommendation that does not include any activity. The actual number of calories your dog needs to eat that day is then updated dynamically based on calories burned. The App calculates calories burned based on activity data collected from the Clip. You are expected to check the “calories left to eat” value on the App dashboard throughout the day to ensure your dog is receiving the correct amount of food. For accurate tracking, the Clip must be worn at all times, have sufficient battery charge, and sync regularly with the App. Users should open the App while within Bluetooth range of the Clip to ensure automatic data transfer. You can also manually sync by tapping the battery icon on the dashboard to access Device settings.
Collection, Use, and Storage of Personal Data
When you use the App, we collect and store limited personal data necessary to provide core services and enhance your experience. By using the App, you consent to the collection, use, and processing of this data as described in our Privacy Policy.
7.1 What Information We Collect
We collect the following types of data when you use the App:
- Personal Data: Your name, email address, and time zone.
- Dog Profile Data: Information about your dog, such as your dog’s name, age, breed size, weight, gender, neuter status, activity level, and any other details you provide, such as a profile photo.
- Usage Data: Information related to your use of the App, including feeding times, frequency of dog feeds, activity levels, and any other actions or preferences you log within the App (e.g., setting notification preferences, or checking if it’s time to feed your dog).
This information is collected directly through the App or through syncing with the Clip.
We use your data for the following purposes:
- To provide and improve the App’s services: Your data is used to customise meal plans, track your dog’s activity, and provide relevant suggestions.
- To communicate with you: We may use your contact details to send you notifications or to resolve any inquiries you submit.
- For troubleshooting and support: If you report an issue with the App or Clip, we will use your data to investigate and resolve it.
- For research and development: Aggregated, anonymised data may be used to improve the App’s functionality and enhance user experience.
7.3 Storage and Retention of Data
We store your personal data securely in compliance with industry standards and applicable data protection laws, including but not limited to the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (if applicable to EU residents), and other relevant regulations governing data privacy in jurisdictions where the App is available.
Your data will be retained only for as long as necessary to provide the App’s services and fulfil the purposes outlined in this agreement. Once your data is no longer required, it will be securely deleted or anonymised.
- Data Storage: Your personal data is stored on secure servers that comply with relevant data protection laws. We employ industry-standard encryption, access controls, and monitoring mechanisms to protect your data from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.
- Data Retention: We will retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you choose to delete your account, we will securely erase or anonymise your personal information, subject to legal and regulatory retention requirements.
7.4 Sharing of Personal Data
We will not share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes. However, we may share your data in the following cases:
- Service Providers & Data Processors: We may share your data with trusted third-party service providers (such as cloud storage providers, analytics platforms, and customer support platforms) to assist with the operation of the App. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes specified in this document.
- Legal Compliance & Law Enforcement: We may disclose your personal data if required by law, regulation, court order, or governmental request, or if such disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Mars Petcare Australia, its users, or others, in compliance with applicable laws.
- App Functionality & User Support: If you report a technical issue or require customer support, we may access and use your data to investigate and resolve the issue. This may include limited data sharing with technical support teams or third-party troubleshooting services, where necessary, to ensure optimal App functionality.
Data Anonymisation: Where possible, we will aggregate and anonymise personal data before using it for analysis, research, or service improvements. This ensures that the information used for operational purposes does not personally identify individual users.
7.5 Your Data Protection Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: You can request corrections to any inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Deletion: You can request the deletion of your personal data, subject to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Withdrawal of Consent: If we process your data based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us.
- Data Portability: You can request a copy of your personal data in a structured, commonly used format for transfer to another service provider.

7.6 Security of Personal Data

- Incident Response Plan: In the event of a data breach, we have procedures in place to mitigate risks and notify affected users as required by law.
However, please note that no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and while we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Use of Technology Disclaimer
The App does not utilise artificial intelligence (AI) technology in any capacity. All calculations and processing are performed using standard logic and algorithms in the App’s backend. No AI or machine learning models are involved in the functionality of the App.
Clip Specifications and Usage
The Clip provided to users as part of the pilot program has the following specifications:
- Display: Square 1.3-inch 240×240 IPS capacitive touch display
- Dimensions: 37.5mm x 40mm x 11mm
- Weight: 38 grams
- Connectivity: Bluetooth 5 and Bluetooth Low Energy for seamless data transfer with the App
- Storage: 4 MB of User Storage for activity and usage data
- Battery: The Clip features an all-week 180 mAh battery. Users are responsible for ensuring the Clip is regularly charged for optimal performance.
- Charger: 2-pin USB charging dock for recharging the Clip.
Water Resistance Disclaimer:
The Clip may offer some resistance to splashes or light moisture, but it is not certified as waterproof or dustproof. It should not be submerged in water or exposed to rain, high humidity, or dust for extended periods. Do not use the Clip during activities such as swimming, bathing, or in wet environments. Mars does not guarantee performance under exposure to water or dust.
Important Usage Warnings: The Clip is designed to attach to your dog’s existing collar and should never be attached directly to the dog’s skin. Ensure the collar and Clip are properly fitted—not too tight or too loose—to avoid discomfort or potential injury. Monitor your dog closely during the first few days of using the Clip for any signs of irritation or behavioural changes. Do not use the Clip during intense physical activity that could cause it to dislodge or be damaged. Avoid exposing the Clip to extreme heat (e.g., direct sunlight for prolonged periods or leaving it in a hot car). Mars is not responsible for injuries or adverse outcomes caused by improper use or failure to follow these safety guidelines.
Keep the Clip and charger out of reach of children. These are not toys and may pose a choking, ingestion, or injury hazard if mishandled. The Clip contains small parts and electronic components not suitable for children.
Discomfort or Injury Disclaimer
If, at any time, you notice that your dog is experiencing discomfort, irritation, or any adverse reaction while wearing the Clip, you should immediately remove the Clip and discontinue use. We recommend monitoring your dog closely, particularly in the early stages of using the Clip.

No Warranties & Limitation of Liability
"As Is" Basis: THE APP AND CLIP ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. MARS DISCLAIMS ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DO NOT REPRESENT OR WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE AVAILABLE AT ALL TIMES, THAT ACCESS WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, THAT THERE WILL BE NO DELAYS, FAILURES, ERRORS OR OMISSIONS OR LOSS OF TRANSMITTED INFORMATION, OR THAT NO VIRUSES OR OTHER CONTAMINATING OR DESTRUCTIVE PROPERTIES WILL BE TRANSMITTED.
Limitation of Liability: TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MARS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE, INCLUDING INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, ARISING FROM THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP OR CLIP, EVEN IF MARS HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in the App and Clip, including software, trademarks, and logos, are owned by Mars or its licensors.
License Grant
Mars grants you a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to access and use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes, in accordance with these Terms. This license is revocable at any time, with or without cause, at our sole discretion.
Restrictions on Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for illegal purposes
- Sell, rent, or transfer access to the App or Clip
- Reverse-engineer or disassemble the App or Clip
- Violate any applicable laws
Warranty and Support
The Clip is covered by a limited two-month warranty for manufacturing defects. This does not cover accidental damage, misuse, or normal battery wear.
How to Report a Fault: You should contact our Customer Care Team at contact@aup.mars.com with a description of the issue. If covered under warranty, Mars will replace the Clip, subject to availability.
App Support
You can report issues via contact@aup.mars.com, providing details such as screenshots of the issue, error messages and smartphone device information.
Termination
Mars reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Pilot Program or any user’s access to the App or Clip at any time, without liability or obligation to provide continued support.
Dispute Resolution
Disputes will be resolved under the laws of Victoria, Australia and handled in courts of Victoria, Australia.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Mars harmless from and against any and all claims (including third party claims), loss or damage that may be incurred by us arising out of, or in connection with (a) your use of the App or Clip and (b) any breach by you of these Terms.

Miscellaneous
Severability: If any provision is found invalid, remaining provisions will remain in effect.
Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Mars regarding the App and Clip. These Terms supersede any and all prior or contemporaneous agreements, representations, warranties and understandings with respect to the App and the Clip.
Waiver: Mars’ failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of such provision nor of Mars’ rights to enforce such provisions.
